What little troopers I have! All three of my boys are such good travelers!
We loaded up the vehicle on Monday morning (had we done it any sooner, everything would have froze right through!), in the bitter cold of the morning, and we headed out to the big city to meet with an eye doctor who was going to look at cja’s eyes. Even though it was cold, the roads were clear and the boys alternately slept and played on the way up. We stopped two hours down the road to feed the boys, and then continued on the rest of the way.
Once we arrived, we settled in to our hotel and fed cja again. After supper and some shopping, we tried to settle in for the night but era’s stuffy nose and new cough made that difficult. Daddy went out a couple of times to get era some Tylenol and some cough syrup just to get era to sleep. After a rough night, era felt better and went swimming with Daddy in the morning at the hotel.
Then we were off to the doctor. Because cja was born with a condition known as Strabismus, we wanted to make sure that we treated it as soon as possible. After looking into his eyes extensively, trying everything she could to get a baby to cooperate, she determined that cja is using both of his eyes and the lazy eye rights itself occasionally, which is good. He is far sighted, which is normal for a infant of his age, but falls within the allowed parameters. His eyes are developing normally and they see the same (basically have the same prescription) and so glasses are not warranted for cja. Because of the intermittent correction of the lazy eye, she is hopeful that it will correct itself so we will be patching his good eye for an hour everyday to work his lazy eye and continue to pray that it will correct itself over time so glasses and surgery can be avoided. The report from the doctor was everything I hoped and prayed for and I continue to praise God for His hand upon my son. We go back to see the doctor in two months to see if the exercises are doing their job and the measurements she took get better.
The rest of the day was spent shopping, letting era pick out Schleich toys and smiling as he and Daddy took a walk through the Lego store. I hit the usual stores, Bath and Body Works, Old Navy and Chapters and I enjoyed a CopaBanana Jugo Juice (MUST learn how to make this) and then we settled back into a better nights sleep at the hotel. We drove home yesterday morning, making the same stops along the way, thankful that the roads were not too bad, and that we made it home safely.
